About configuring PINs with leading zeros for Mercury integrations

Before configuring PINs with leading zeros for your Mercury integration in the Synergis™ Appliance Portal, learn about the requirements and how the Maximum PIN length and PIN length after adding leading zeros settings affect your PINs.
Requirements
Using PIN credentials in Mercury integrations requires the following:
- Security Center 5.7 SR2 or later is required to use six-digit PINs with leading zeros. In 5.7 SR1 and earlier, six-digit PINs with leading zeros do not work. Access is still granted, but you do not receive an Access granted event in Security Center.
- Each cardholder must have a card credential and only one PIN credential.
- If the unit-wide reader setting is Card or PIN but the
cardholder only has a PIN credential, that credential is not synchronized to the Mercury
controller and does not work.Workaround: Create and assign the cardholder a dummy card credential.
- HID keypad readers must support the mode-00 option.
About maximum PIN length used with leading zeros
To configure leading zeros for your PINs, you must modify the PIN length after
adding leading zeros setting on the Mercury controller
settings page of the Synergis Appliance Portal. The PIN length after
adding leading zeros and Maximum PIN length settings
affect each other in the following ways:
- PINs no longer work if the PIN length after adding leading zeros is greater than the Maximum PIN length.
- Leading zeros are added to shorter PINs until they reach the PIN length after adding leading zeros, not the Maximum PIN length.
- PINs equal in length or longer than the PIN length after adding leading zeros are valid as long as they do not exceed the Maximum PIN length.
The Maximum PIN length is set to 6. The PIN
length after adding leading zeros is set to 4.
- If the original PIN was 9, then the PIN becomes 0009.
- If the original PIN was 123, the PIN becomes 0123.
- If the original PIN was 12345, then the PIN remains the same.
