Setting up distinct door modes for the Allegion Schlage lock integration through Mercury

2025-11-25Last updated

Allegion Schlage AD, Legacy LE, and Legacy NDE-series locks support multiple door modes designed for different access control scenarios. These modes allow administrators to configure how a door behaves under specific conditions. To use the door modes, you must first create them as a custom field in Config Tool.

What you should know

The supported door modes are managed using the Door mode numeric custom field on the door configuration in Config Tool. This field determines how the door operates based on the selected mode.
  • 0 - Normal operation
  • 1 - Classroom: Two swipes (within 5 seconds) by the same card unlocks the door until the same action locks it again
  • 2 - Office: Press button to unlock and relock
  • 3 - Privacy: Press button to deny all access from outside, press button or REX out to deactivate
  • 4 - Apartment: Press button or REX out to unlock, stays unlocked until button press or swipe to relock
Limitation:
Locks in modes other than 0 (Normal operation) have the following limitations:
  • Card and PIN and DoubleSwipe do not work.
  • Unlock schedules and Lockdown might not work properly.
  • Doors using modes 1 to 4 can only have one reader.

Procedure

  1. In Config Tool, open the System task and click the General settings view.
  2. Click the Custom fields tab, and then click Add an item () at the bottom of the custom field list.
The Add custom field dialog box opens.
  3. From the Entity type list, select Door.
Add custom field dialog box in Config Tool showing the Door mode custom field.
  4. From the Data type list, select Numeric for the custom field.
  5. In the Name field, enter Door mode as the name for the custom field.
    Important:
Ensure that the custom field name is entered exactly as shown. This ensures proper mapping between the field and the Allegion Schlage wireless locks.
  6. Click Save and close > Apply .
